Ultradot Matchdot ll

At my last practice session I checked out an Ultradot Matchdot ll. Overall I was very impressed and found it easier to pick up the target. The optic is 30mm and the actual dot is very clear compared to mine. In fact mine looks more like a red blotch than a dot.

I ordered one from Ultadot West on Sunday and it showed up on Thursday. The length is about the same as mine and that’s where the similarities end.

Check out Ultradot West’s web site for all the details, but in short it has several different dots, a great range of brightness levels and you can change the elevation on the fly.

When swapping out the old one I decided to remove the barrel, clamp it in vice (with timber on each side) and set up on a target.

I taped this to the side a car in my driveway which was a little over 48′ from the vice.

I figured if I took a point of aim with the existing reddot, removed it, installed the new one, made all the necessary adjustments it should be pretty close to zero!

Here’s the new one in place.

Installation completed. I’m going to zero in at the range in the coming days.

Birthday cup cake

So today in the day. 10 years ago the GMan came out to play.

This next video was GMan’s idea. Perhaps it’s a pre curser to crushing beer cans on his head in college!

Challah

GMan made Challah in class this am. He decided to re-make and Jess took some to make a second.

Here’s the results.

Here it is actual size.

Yes, that’s a quarter!

Here’s GMans attempt. It’s more of a Challah bun, but he’s got the New Year shape correct.

GMan’s birthday

It’s GMan’s birthday this week so we are doing the cool stuff today.

We started in the Hard Rock cafe in Boston. GMan’s friend W from school came along.

GMan was sufficiently embarrassed by the screaming happy birthday routine they do here.

However the bonus is the ice cream sunday.

20120922-155305.jpg

The icing on the cake was Blue Man Group.

If you have not seem it……go!

20120922-191726.jpg

All ready for the flying bananas, paint, Captain Crunch or what else makes it off the stage.

20120922-191749.jpg

With second row seating we managed to get slimed a few time. At this range you also need a good stomach as well as good reflexes! But at any distance it’s a great show and very funny.

GMan and W meet a Blue Man post show in the lobby. These guys are great at keeping straight faces. Even during photo time they stay in character. However, during the Captain Crunch routine one did crack a smile at his drooling crunch, but managed to keep it together. We on the other hand didn’t know whether to laugh or be totally grosses out, we chose a combination but leaned toward laughter.

Target Practice

Got my best two scores on Timed and Rapid Targets at my last practice session, 93 (Timed) and 92 (Rapid), that’s out of a possible 100.

Timed round is as follows. Load 5 round on command, wait for the buzzer and fire all 5 in 20 seconds at the target 50 feet away, single handed. Then it repeats one more time.

Here’s the 93 point target. This one has (7) 10’s (4x’s), (1) 9 and 8 and a flyer in 6. Wish that flyer was a little closer to the center! However, in other practice session I have a tendency to place shots in this quadrant which is heeling – anticipation recoil.

Rapid round is as follows. Load 5 round on command, wait for the buzzer and fire all 5 in 10 seconds at the target 50 feet away, single handed. Then it repeats one more time.

Here’s the results on the 92 point target. (4) 10’s, 9’s2x’s, and (2) 8’s.
