The boys and I attended the Littleton MA 300th Parade in Saturday. We got there early and set up our chairs in a nice shady spot. Weather man said 91 and humid!
The parade was lead off by a group of Police motorbikes.
Many bands and groups marches including this Navy troop.
Followed by a 1/2 track and tank, complete with what looks like a 50 cal.
Littleton MA Minutemen
Here’s a novel way of reusing old fire trucks. This one belongs to Wachusetts Brewing Company.
Some of the old valves were replaced with beer taps. There are very good at quenching thirst not fires!
Irish American Police Offers Association of MA – Pipes and Drums
This is claim to be the first motorized vehicle in Littleton MA
Littleton High School from Colorado also marched.
Groton MA Minutemen Company. This marcher managed to carry his companies colors, reload, fire on command, keep step and not pass out from the heat.
Back in the day “long guns” really means long guns. If you ran out if ammo you could just prod the other lad from 4 feet away.
Lexington MA Minutemen presenting arms, aim and fire. Four muskets with 10 feet of us was quite loud. I cannot imaging what a battle field sounded like back when lobbing lead balls was popular.
Many old cars made the journey. Here are a few.
Here’s a not so old one.
That’s one big hot dog.
JMan wanted to run in the parade so he zipped across and back.
The boys.
Woodland String Band. I think these lads missed the turn for Mardi Gras.
Horse drawn cannon.
12th Georgia Vol. Infantry Civil War reactors match on by.
My friends from The Cannon Theatre had a float. Go here for more information on the theater and remember to support local arts.
Lastly, here’s a ride we will all get but don’t want.
All in all it was a great parade.
