Wachusett Mountain Road

Today I took the boys out to Wachusett Mountain. We drove up the mountain road and hiked around the summit.

Trying to catch supper in the pond.

Snowboarding

This week Friday’s ski/board program turned into a Saturday evening/night shredding blast.

Conditions were so so when we got here at 4:30 but continued to improve as the evening passed. We hopped from one side of the mountain to the other and did countless runs.

It snowed for a while then cleared then the fog formed. The above was at the summit. It was so foggy you could not see the end of the chair lift till you were on top of if! However, the trails are well lit so boarding down was not an issue.

Snowboarding

Last night was GMans final snowboarding lesson. As usual I got to the mountain early and snagged a few tables. The place was quite so I got in many no lift line runs.

The kids showed up at 4 and after lessons we had appetizers from the resturant to round out another successful lesson season.

GMan and I went back out and continued boarding till 9:30. All in all it was a great afternoon/evening.

Snowboarding

GMan and I made a mad dash to Wachusetts for some New England powder boarding. Conditions were great but the wind was so strong GMan had a real issue getting up a head of steam. I on the other hand had gravity on my side so I was carving up a storm.

Unfortunately the governor of this fine state is clearly not into shredding and pulled the plug on our fun! The mountain closed at 4pm, as the gov closed the roads, just four runs after we arrived. No worries it was still worth it.

JMan carving up the slopes

JMan and I hit the slopes today. This was a future I never figured on, but I’m very happy it’s here. I can’t imagine Jimmy Quinn doing this but it was a different world when I was five years old!

Snowboarding

GMan and I spent most of the day carving up the runs at Wachusetts. It was a beautiful day with clear skies, but it was a little cold.

The lads. I’ll refer to myself as a lad until they pry my snowboard off my feet!

Wachusetts Mountain – Snowboarding

Wachusetts Mountain – Snowboarding. Today was our first trip to our local mountain this season. GMan’s boarding lessons start this week and we wanted to break him in prior to his lessons. Conditions were okay, but it was cold and considering it was 70 degrees the last time we hit the slopes anything less than 50 would feel cold! It was busy, but the lines moved fast. It was a nice way of ending 2012 and looking forward to next Friday. See you on the slopes, here’s snow in your face!

Wachusett Mountain

It’s a little early for Snowboarding, but nothing like picking up a few items in preparation. GMan, JMan and myself took a spin out to Wachusett Mountain for the labor day sale. While the parking lot was quite full it turned out that most people were attending a wedding. However, we were not along in the ski shop. I was not looking for anything in particular, but JMan wants to take boarding lessons so we picked up a nice Smith Helmet for short money.

The highlight of the trip was a ride up the chair life! It was weird not to have something hanging from one foot. The boy did great on the getting on and off. You gotta love detachable quads!

On the way up. I just made 1/2 of myself so I could sit on with side of the kids!

Yet another great boarding day

Yet another fine day snowboarding with the GMan at Wachusett Mountain. The condition were great (for man made) for top to bottom, but the upper half seemed better. We ended up parking in the remote parking and taking the shuttle to the mountain. Its a quick three minute ride in a fancy school bus with cranking music and creaky springs.

After suiting up and picking up the GMans rental board and boots we headed right for Ralph. It was fairly quite considering it was a holiday and the start of school vacation week. We did a few runs and them headed for the top.

We boarded for a solid four hours and I feel it now! I did take one good spill but all in all it was a wonderful day.
