Recovery

Two days out and recovery is not moving fast enough for me! Perhaps my age has something to do with it. Yesterday I felt like crap and every time I breath in through my nose I could feel the operation! Weird, almost like something is up there with a pick axe hacking away. On top of that I was extremely dizzy.

Today started out good. Currently having coffee, but I’m not moving fast and don’t expect I will be for a for more days.

I’m so getting back on my rowing machine when I get over the hump. I have to think that the healing process will be faster if I feel good about my well being.

More later.

Post surgery

I had out patient surgery for my over active sinuses this am. The whole process went remarkably well…thankfully. In at 7:15am, on the table at 9, done at 9:45, post op for a few hours and then home. When asked by one of the nurses pre op how I was doing I said fine, and this will be a walk in the park. I was right, compared to the last rota-rooter job I had on my nose this one was a piece of cake.

As always everyone was wonderfully at the Lahey and according to the doc everything went great.

Jess dove me home and I’m now resting in bed. Pink Floyd never sounded as good……apparently the drug kicked in!

Family shots

After dinner family time.

JMan plays the glockenspiel he made in school. Very cool indeed.

Max Brenner

Dinner out on the town. We meet up with Jess’s mom in Boston for dinner. Max Brenner was our destination. Apparently chocolate is the theme.

I felt the need to try a chocolate stout! It was just like Guinness with a very faint chocolate after taste. Not bad, but not worth $10! However, I drank it none the less.

Good food, great desert and good company.

Target Practice

I finally got over to the club for a little target practice. I honestly can’t remember the last time so it was way passed due.

The first four targets are single handed, 50 foot, firing five magazine with ten rounds for a total of 50 per target. I was using CCI Standard Velocity .22 rounds. Of the 200 rounds I fired one was a hang fire.

This last target was my just for fun round. Again 50 rounds, 10 per mag, but this was two handed braced shooting. The three flyers outside the black were from a rapid fire string where I shot all ten round very quickly. This is just proof that the Smith & Wesson Model 41 is a very accurate target pistol.

Sunday drive

Sunday’s were meant for cruising around. We started with breakfast at Joey’s Diner in Amherst NH and then returned a kayak to EMS in Peterborough NH. While there we picked up a few items off the sale rack including a great deal on a shell for $100….saving $150. Just love a bargain.

iPhone dry bag update

As may have read while camping we spend a great deal of time on the water. I really put the OB iPhone bag through the ringer and it came out dry every time. It got splashed a lot, dropped in the water twice as I was getting out of my kayak and it sat on the bottom of my boat for extended periods.

What sealed the deal for me was when we were practicing wet exists and self rescues. I placed the OB (with phone) under the bungee so it would not be flopping around. I must have flipped my boat ten times and showered it with water in my failed attempts to get my sorry you know what back in my boat, and not a single drop of water got in!

Go here for details.

JMan on the water

JMan and I went for a little paddle this morning. We put into the Nashoba at 119 and headed north. Along the way we saw all manner of birds but not one fish. The river was quite as it was looking like rain.

JMan checking out nature.
