After the dealership told me my faithful Subu would need a new tranny it was time for a tough decision.

After 179, 496 miles we parted ways.

A few years back I had the opportunity to test drive a 2013 Outback. However, I was very unimpressed with the overall ride and feel of the car. It felt more like an SUV and very unlike my nimble, steet aware Subu.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago I took a 2015 Outback around the dealer parking lot. I knew if I took it out on the road I’d buy it on the spot. This time I was very impressed. Subaru did their homework and the 2015 is a whole different car. Even the drive by wire feel….well, not drive by wire. The suspension and feel are much better. You know where the front wheel are pointed. Interior space is much better over my 2006 and technology wise the 06 is like a 2×4 club, where the 15 is a stealth fighter plane.

After we got our ducks in a row and I was happy with my research, I went back for a proper test run. The car was more responsive than I expected. Let’s just say that taking a 25 mph off ramp at three times the limit put the Subu through its paces. The end result was very little roll a solid feel, no squealing and no unnecessary tail wagging!

Nothing can beat an open fire……well, except the one at Sean’s Bar on a January night with the rain coming at you sideway, and a 1/2 dozen pints of Arthur!

We went to this show a few years ago and it was fun. However, since then I’m sad to say that there are absolutely no innovations in this sector.

In fact most of these fiberglass, fiber board and plastic boxes appear to be thrown together from across the street. The quality of work is simply terrible in anything other than the super high end motor coaches. Speaking of which for $200k plus I’d also want something other than a coffin looking interior clad in fiberglass!

Really, let’s lose the faux wood. There is lots of room for improvement and lot of room to up the quality of product. Most disappointing was the lack of Airstream campers. I think I’ll miss the next twenty or so years of shows, perhaps by then things will be better.

Now, how do I get back the $80 we spent on parking, admission and a few snacks!

You give a kid a few weapons and eventually they will hit someone. Our GMan took a ski pole to the upper lip last night and required a stitch.

While shuffling to the lift line a skier in front of him pushed off with a little more energy that was needed.
