The gang is all here

Thanks to the generosity of my mother in law (Lenore Miller) I just acquired the last edition of Architectural Graphic Standards, which happens to be the first edition. I mentioned while on the phone with Lenore that I just got the sixth edition and she said I’ll get you the first edition as an early birthday present!

A friend of Lenore’s found several copies on AbeBooks and I reached out for more information. I was happy with the results and bought one. It showed up yesterday and I couldn’t be happier.

I sat at our kitchen table last evening and as we say in the architectural world, I did a page turn. We certainly don’t build them like they used to but many of the details could easily be used in a modern construction set, some 92 years after this book was published.

Thanks again Lenore for all you do and this wonderful gift. GLAT

1 through 12 with several supplements.

The last one….

My Architecture Graphic Standards collection grew by one more this am. I bought and received the 6th edition. In the process I had a wonderful back and forth conversation with the eBay seller. Bar a few supplements (some arriving soon) the only one I’m missing is the original 1932 edition.

Ramsey’s put out a reissued version in 1998 I believe but I’m holding out for the real deal which will be 92 years old this year!

Keep your eyes open for (a real) one and drop me a line if you see one.

Cheers, Alan
